Kainchi Dham

Kainchi Dham was established by a great saint Shri Neem Karoli Baba in 1960's at Kainchi village on Nainital-Almora road. It's a holy temple and ashram surrounded by hills and trees and a river flowing besides it. Neeb Karori Baba who is more popularly known as Neem Karoli Baba is revered by thousands of devotees who throng from various parts of the country. The "Tuesday" visits are considered more sacred.

Snow View (Altitude 2,270 m):

Located atop the Sher-ka-Danda Ridge (north by north – east of the town centre) is easily reachable by a cable car. On a clear day, it offers spectacular views of the snowbound high Himalaya, including Nanda Devi, Trishul, and Nanda Kot. The best time of the year for viewing the mountains is late October and November.

Naina Peak

Naina peak is the highest peak in the town with an altitude of 2,615 m and at a walking distance of 6 Km from north end of the town (Mallital). From a top of the peak, one can not only see a broad swath of the snow clad high Himalaya, but also obtain a panoramic view of Nainital town itself. The summit is an invigorating hike from Nainital town, in addition, for the less energetic visitors, ponies can be hired in Mallital or on Snow View.

Tiffin Top (Dorothy's Seat):

This terraced hill top (altitude 2,292 m) on Ayarapatta hill is a 4 km hike from the town centre and commands a nice view of the neighbouring country side. Dorothy’s Seat is a stonework picnic perch on Tiffin Top (Tiffin - a light meal eaten during the day) built as a memorial to an English artist, Dorothy Kellet, by her husband and admirers after her death in plane a crash.

Governor's House (Raj Bhavan):

Government House was built in 1899 and designed in the Victorian Gothic domestic style (also called “domestic Gothic”) by the architect F.W. Stevens. Originally built as the summer residence of the governor of the North West Province, it later became the summer residence for Lieutenant Governor of the United Province. Currently, Raj Bhavan is the official guest house for the Governor of Uttarakhand and for visiting state guests. The complex consists of a two-storied mansion with 113 rooms, a large garden, a swimming pool, and golf link. Obtaining prior permission is must for visiting. To play Golf, contact reception.

Hanuman Garhi:

It is a religious centre, well known for it’s sunset view. A very beautiful Hanuman Mandir established by Baba Neem Kiroli, is at the top. From Hanuman Garhi, watching the sunset is very soothing. You can walk down from Nainital to Hanuman Garhi.

Observatory:

It is about 4.5 km form Nainital, situated at an altitude of 1,951 m. The observatory is basically a place of astronomical studies. Public is shown round some of the instruments during working days at afternoons. For night viewing three four days on moonlit nights are fixed and permission is needed.

High Altitude Zoo:

Perched at a high altitude of 2,075 m, motorable, 1.5 km away, the zoo is famous for housing a variety of species of animals living at higher altitude.

Cave Garden - 1 km:

A very beautiful natural garden with many natural cave excursions.

Himalaya Darshan:

It is famous for Himalayan Peaks. You can see many snow covered peaks, Kosi river & Beautiful Green valleys of Uttaranchal from this point. It is 12 km from nainital.
